Extra mededeling voor de wandeling op zondag 8 maart 2020

 

 

EXTRA MEDEDELING  aan alle deelnemers van de strandwandeling voor a.s. zondag 8 maart.

Zoals bij iedereen bekend, hebben we in Nederland inmiddels ook te maken met de verspreiding van het Corona virus. Wij als Evenementen commissie houden ons ook bezig met de gevolgen van dit virus voor onze evenementen. Vandaar dat wij het volgende advies uitbrengen:

Heeft u verkoudheidsklachten, niest of hoest u, dan adviseren wij u om NIET deel te nemen aan de wandeling. Graag ontvangen we u dan op een volgende wandeling waarbij het Corona virus dan misschien beter onder controle is. Alvast bedankt voor uw begrip.

Kampioenschapsclubmatch 2019 - de foto's . . .

Op 26 oktober was het weer tijd voor onze jaarlijkse Kampioenschapsclubmatch.
Ook dit keer weer in de sporthal te Woudenberg.
Keurmeester dhr. Rob Douma had dit keer 44 Cavaliers te keuren. In dezelfde hal, in een kleinere ring keurde mw. Ineke Zwaartman-Pinster  20 honden op fokgeschiktheid.
De cardioloog Niek Bijerink was in Australie en kon dus deze keer helaas geen hondenhartjes onderzoeken.  

Na de individuele keuringen van de reuen en de teven werd daarna eerst uit de jongste puppyklassen
(de baby’s)  het blenheim teefje Beauty of The Rose v.’t Burgstse Hof van fok/eig. mw. M.G.H.Kavelaars-van Loenhout gekozen tot Beste Baby en bij de puppy’s werd het blenheim teefje Kathleen van de Hoenhorst Beste Puppy. Fok/eig. mw. M. Hilhorst.

De eindkeuringen

Allereerst kwamen alle reuen, die met de kwalificatie 1 Uitmuntend beste in hun klas waren geworden, de ring in.
Hieruit koos de keurmeester als Beste reu uit de Openklas de black and tan reu Eaben Moshly The Lovely Indy’s van fok/eig. mw. Y. Heijboer. Reserve beste werd de blenheim reu uit de Fokkersklas King for A Day of An Excellent Choice van fok/eig. mw. N. Moonen.

Daarna was het de beurt aan de teven om de ring in te komen. Net als bij de reuen moesten de beste teven ook allemaal nog eerst hun gangwerk tonen voordat keurmeester Rob Douma besliste wie de Beste en Reserve beste teef zou worden.
Beste teef werd de blenheim uit de Fokkersklas Mamma Mia of An Excellent Choice van fok/eig. mw. N. Moonen en Reserve Beste teef werd het blenheim teefje uit de Jeugdklas Sweet Lake Superstar Glamour Girl van fok/eig. mw. C. Walraven.

Update fokken met kortsnuitige honden

NIEUWSBRIEF - Raad van Beheer

Vijf jaar geleden is de wet  ‘besluit Houders van Dieren’ in werking getreden. Het doel van deze wetswijziging is het verbeteren van het dierenwelzijn bij de fokkerij van gezelschapsdieren.

Artikel 3.4 van het besluit bevat regels ten aanzien van het fokken van gezelschapsdieren. Als hoofdregel geldt dat het verboden is gezelschapsdieren te fokken, waarbij het welzijn en de gezondheid van de ouderdieren en/of nakomelingen benadeeld wordt.
Om dit artikel 3.4 te kunnen handhaven heeft het ministerie begin 2019 criteria laten opstellen, die zich richten op schadelijke uiterlijke kenmerken van de brachycefale honden en katten. Deze criteria zijn op 18 maart 2019 gepubliceerd en  worden gebruikt door inspectiediensten LID en NVWA voor handhaving van het wetsartikel.

De enige mogelijkheid die de overheid biedt aan hondenrassen waarvan vrijwel de gehele populatie de handhavingsnormen overschrijdt is een verplicht fokprogramma. De overheid heeft de Raad van Beheer de mogelijkheid geboden om hiervoor een plan van aanpak in te dienen. De Raad van Beheer heeft samen met de rasverenigingen van kortsnuitige rassen dit fokbegeleidingsplan opgesteld en heeft dit op 1 augustus 2019 aangeboden aan de minister.

Op 21 en 28 oktober jl. heeft de Raad van Beheer twee informatieavonden georganiseerd speciaal gericht op de fokkers van de betreffende rassen. Deze avonden waren bedoeld om fokkers en geïnteresseerden een update te geven over de huidige situatie van de wetgeving, de inhoud van het fokbegeleidingsplan en mogelijke scenario’s voor de toekomst.

Het door de Raad van Beheer opgestelde Fokbegeleidingsplan (FBP) volgt de criteria van de overheid op vrijwel alle punten en gaat daarnaast zelfs verder op het gebied van gezondheid van de ogen (BOS) en ademhalingsproblemen (BOAS).

Het grootste verschil tussen het plan van de Raad van Beheer en het plan van de overheid zit in het criteria van de snuitlengte: De overheid kenmerkt de Cranio Faciale Ratio (CFR) van <0,3 als uitsluiting voor de fokkerij, ongeacht of de hond last heeft van BOS en/of BOAS gerelateerde ziekten. De Raad van Beheer geeft aan dat deze CFR <0,3 weliswaar een risicofactor is, maar wanneer de hond verder gezond is en voor alle andere criteria goede scores heeft, sluit de Raad van Beheer deze honden niet uit voor de fokkerij.
Wel onderkent de Raad van Beheer dat de CFR een risicofactor is en dat het fokbeleid ook mede gericht moet zijn op het verlengen van de snuitlengte.

Waarom wijkt het fokbegeleidingsplan af op het criterium snuitlengte t.o.v. de handhavingscriteria van de overheid?

  1. Er onvoldoende wetenschappelijke grondslag om de CFR (snuitlengte) als fok-uitsluitend criterium op te nemen. Het grootste onderzoek op dit gebied (Cambridge) toont geen direct verband aan met BOAS-aandoeningen.
  2. Er zijn een aantal rassen met een korte(re) snuit waar de aandoeningen die we willen bestrijden helemaal niet voorkomen. Waarom zou je deze rassen dan aan een dergelijke regel onderwerpen? Dit geldt helemaal als op termijn de grens voor de CFR van 0,3 naar 0,5 wordt opgetrokken zoals het rapport voorstaat. Een groot aantal rassen zonder problemen op BOS en BOAS-aandoeningen worden dan hard getroffen.
  3. Onder het huidige criterium is het eigenlijk onmogelijk om de betrokken rassen nog in stand te houden. Deze rassen zijn vaak geliefd vanwege hun karakter en de vraag naar deze rassen zal blijven bestaan. Als we niet in staat zijn om in Nederland te werken aan een gezond en verantwoord gefokt aanbod van honden zal in de vraag geheel worden voorzien door uit de buitenlandse broodfok afkomstige honden, die op geen enkele manier aan de opgelegde criteria hoeven te voldoen.

 
Het fokbegeleidingsplan samengevat
Het fokbegeleidingsplan zet in op:  een gezonde hond, zonder oog- en ademhalingsproblemen.
Fokbeleid gericht op verlenging van de snuit via selectie geteste en gezonde ouderdieren en via mogelijke raskruisingen.
Het FBP gaat verder dan de handhavingscriteria van de overheid:
   + (over)gewicht
   + nekomvang
   + Internationaal erkende ECVO-oogonderzoeken
   + importhonden aan voorwaarden van het FBP laten voldoen
   + grijze gebied van handel en import tegengaan.
Alleen stambomen voor honden waarvan de ouderdieren aan FBP voldoen (via convenanten).
Met het plan slaan de Raad van Beheer + rasverenigingen van kortsnuitige rassen + fokkers van kortsnuitige rassen de handen ineen met als enige doel: Een gezonde hond!
 
Handhaving NVWA gestart
De handhaving door de NVWA is inmiddels gestart en laat een hard beeld zien. Liefhebbers die met hart en passie hobbymatig een nestje fokken laten al veel gezondheidsonderzoeken verrichten om een zo gezond mogelijke hond te fokken. Dit zijn fokkers die aan de vereiste inspanningsverplichting voldoen om een gezonde hond te fokken zonder BOS en BOAS-aandoeningen. Deze fokkers en de rasverenigingen waar ze bij aangesloten zijn wachten al maanden op een beslissing van het ministerie om het voorgestelde plan te implementeren. Intussen wordt aan de handel van honden uit de buitenlandse broodfok geen enkele eis gesteld met betrekking tot deze en andere gezondheidsaspecten. Mede hierdoor wordt de noodzaak van een beslissing vanuit het ministerie steeds groter om een duidelijk antwoord te krijgen op het door ons ingediende plan.
